    John Prescott may not usually be associated with the world of Hollywood glamour, but the Deputy Prime Minister revealed today that if there was a film of his life story he would have liked Marlon Brando to play the lead.
    很少有人会将英国副首相约翰·普雷斯科特同好莱坞的花花世界联系在一起，不过这位副首相日前却表示，如果要拍一部讲述他生平故事的电影，那么他希望他的角色由马龙·白兰度来扮演。

    据《每日邮报》4月14日报道，普雷斯科特在接受英国布里斯托尔广播电台采访时说，他非常喜欢好莱坞著名影星马龙·白兰度在电影《码头风云》中的表演，白兰度的角色和自己的生活经历很相似，因此如果要为自己的电影主角挑选演员，他就会选白兰度。

    1954年，白兰度在低成本影片《码头风云》中，扮演了一位孤身与黑社会抗争的码头搬运工。他将这一角色饰演得有血有肉，使之成为美国中下层工人的光辉代表。普雷斯科特认为，这个角色与自己的奋斗历程非常相像。生于1938年的普雷斯科特17岁就随商船出海，在海上度过了13年的岁月。1968年，普雷斯科特成为英国海员协会的官员。

    报道说，当这家英国电台记者被建议由头发长长的休·格兰特来扮演他时，普雷斯科特笑了起来：“那不是我。他是新工党，不是老工党。”普雷斯科特在采访中还谈了他和妻子的日常生活与喜好。在看电影方面，他说他现在仍喜欢和妻子去电影院看电影，尽管他对电影的口味非常传统，“我喜欢西部片，喜欢海盗片，喜欢所有我能享受的东西”。

    John Prescott may not usually be associated with the world of Hollywood glamour, but the Deputy Prime Minister revealed today that if there was a film of his life story he would have liked Marlon Brando to play the lead.

    In an interview with Radio 19 in Bristol, Mr Prescott said that he identified with one of the star's most famous early roles as the former boxer turned longshoreman, Terry Malloy, in the film On the Waterfront. 　

    Asked who he would would like to play him in a film version of his life, he replied: "I'll take Marlon Brando in On the Waterfront. I was always involved in strikes and seafaring and docks and so I'll take him".

    In the film, the Brando character took on corrupt union bosses - echoing Mr Prescott's own struggles as a young left-wing union activist with the leadership of the National Union of Seamen.

    The Deputy Prime Minister laughed off an alternative suggestion - the floppy-haired Hugh Grant.

    "It's not me. He is New Labour, not old Labour," he said.

    Mr Prescott said that he still enjoyed going to the cinema with his wife, Pauline, although his taste in movies was very traditional.

    "I like Westerns, I like pirates - I like things I want to enjoy," he said. "I like to come out walking like John Wayne."
